I was very excited to get my new Gasbye portable AC unit, I have had my older model(not as efficient) for 13yrs. This model with the duel hose system is amazing and so quiet for my home business, which needed quiet. I love that I can turbo the room cool and then turn the fan to low.

Perhaps the best thing to say about these folks is that they are super responsive to support inquiries. Before I set the system up, I posed a couple of questions to their support line and received a response in less than 12 hours. Amy's answers were helpful insofar as validating my notions about the system. So, if there are any negatives, they are connected to the window panels, air seals, and hoses. After reading (too darn) many reviews on this and other products, I determined to approach the window panels with a solution of my own. Here goes:

1. Having read a few complaints about the sticky nature of the provided sealing elements, I decided to buy 3/4 inch pipe insulation (closed cell foam) and slip it over the edge of the window brackets. The corners were not perfect, but they were easy enough to seal with some 'cut offs.' This works well and proved quite effective when a cool front blew through last night and dumped hours of moderate rainfall.

2. I bought some "Reflectix" bubble insulation (from the big blue hardware store) to wrap the exhaust hose and it made a huge impact on keeping the heat going where it is supposed to: OUT side!

3. I also placed triple-wraps of the insulation on the outside face of the window brackets to afford a degree of insulation which the brackets are incapable of doing. I used metal foil tape to secure the bubble insulation to the foam pipe insulation. Works like a champ.

4. I cut a segment of the window bracket to create a shield that isolates the hot air discharge from the intake hose. I might cut a longer piece, but for now this seems sufficient. (You can see it in the included photos.)

5. On a pre-installation recommendation, I installed a screen on the intake only; this to avoid potential over heating issues. I also figured I'd get better performance using a domed screen, for which a 6" plastic kitchen strainer proved ideal. I didn't have to modify the strainer frame at all: The fit was 'a natural.'

6. In attempting to limit my investment in this project, I placed a small extant step stool inside a washing machine 'leak tray.' I had a piece of scrap 3/4 inch melamine covered MDO to furnish support (the castors are wider apart than the foot stool), but that was a bit too smooth and the unit could be pushed around too easily. After checking with Gasbye support, they said I could use the foam crate the unit shipped in to provide a slide/roll resistant base.

7. The photos will show that this worked out very well, allowing minimal hose runs, required side clearances (18 inches all around), and sufficient elevation of the bottom water drain to place a small pail or a pot (should that prove necessary) beneath it.

8. The remote works very well as I can adjust operating mode and temperature from over 30 ft away.

9. Performance: I'm going to say, "the jury is still out." I have this installed in an upstairs space that the central air unit is not capable of cooling (without freezing out the downstairs part of the zone). It's a very poor design. I had two days in the mid-90s to test it; if running in the normal Cool mode, it seemed to hold its own. Being efficiency minded, I ran the unit in Inverter mode and found it maintained too low a fan speed to effectively cool my long narrow room (14 ft x 38 ft). The quick cure was to turn on two ceiling fans, which distributed the cool air more than effectively, but that's more energy. It will require more hot days and more practical testing to figure out the best way to operate this unit, but there is no doubt it makes my space usable during hot summer months in central Virginia.

As noted, I've only been in operation for a couple of days, but all seems to be going along well for now. I'll post back when the cooling season is over or maybe after next summer to report on longer term performance. Oh: Value for the money? It's cheaper than the $7-8,000 I was quoted to install a mini-split as a third zone.

I purchase this because my air condition was not cooling properly at 100 degrees in Georgia heat the unit couldn‘t keep up in the day so I had a air conditioning technician they want over $1000 to put Freon in my air condition so I told them I would handle it . This unit help cool my downstairs and the out side unit wouldn’t turn off as before it would run 5+ hrs and not turn off . Now I order two 25 gallon tanks of 410R freon ($500) and order my air conditioning gauges ($200) and service my own air conditioning much cheaper do it your self . I highly recommend learn how to do small air-conditioning task on your house unit . I have had this unit one week so I can’t speak to longevity yet. But some good and bad thing. Yeah I read all the reviews before purchasing and it was down to this a the unit I had purchased previously that lasted 8 years and is more well know. Addressing the window kit, the quality is very typical of others, I have purchased 6 different brands of ac units over the past 10 years. The unit itself cools very well and is very quiet. I have had one that blows more air but this is probably the coldest air of any. It seems like it will be a more efficient unit compared to others due to the inverter. I’m using it to cool down a living room and kitchen so about 1,000 sqf. It does it quite well and easily.

I had some issues and reached out to the manufacturer before writing this. They have a sticker on the unit to contact them for anything. I will say the customer service was very good they responded to me very quickly and addressed all my issues.

I would recommend this unit to anyone.
I could create a long list of things I like but it’s easy to point out what I don’t.

First the power cord and exhaust/inlet hoses are all shorter than others units I have had by about 1-2 feet. The way the hoses attach to the window partition is kinda a bad design only because if you want to disconnect them you need to from the outside and I have a screen on my window, so I would have to remove everything in order to disconnect a hose.

Not a deal breaker but definitely something worth considering. As someone else posted I also am having an issue keeping the room at a set temperature. All my AC units hold at whatever temp I set. I have several thermostats placed around. This unit will vary up to about 5 degrees at times. Sometimes it hold the temperature perfectly sometimes it goes down 2-3 below set temp then goes 2 above before turning on. 5 degrees is definitely noticeable when you’re used to always having your home at 68 year round.

But overall I’d still say it’s a good unit because it can cool down a place very well, it’s very quiet, and seems to be more efficient than others I have had. And the customer support was excellent. I fell like that are really trying to back this unit up and listen to the customers. Here’s a picture of my old unit I’m replacing next to this new one. I can’t list all the different manufacturers names or my review probably wouldn’t get approved.

I live in Alamogordo NM, and it has been over 100F outside for the last week. I usually rely on a swamp cooler to keep the house cool (usually keeps it in the mid 70s), but for the last week it has been 80F inside. Three weeks ago I purchased this portable AC unit for my bedroom (~225 square feet), and even with the rest of the house this hot I find that I only need to use the "inverter" setting to keep my bedroom cool at night (70-72F, while keeping the bedroom door open and only ran at night).

I exclusively use the "inverter" setting with the temperature set to 69F, and it only draws 600 watts (checked with a calibrated tool).

I am glad that I can use more powerful settings, in the event that I need to cool a much larger area, but so far I have not done so, so I can not attest to how well it works when doing so or how much energy it will require.

Satisfied with the purchase. Cools a 12x18 space and adjoining space very effectively. Noise level as expected since this is a portable floor unit.
Very easy to set up though I did buy an insulating jacket for the exhaust hose as it gets fairly warm. Purchased this because of the quality of a GasBye dehumidifier I also purchased earlier this year.

My wife and I ended up buying not one but two of your 14,000 BTU units. They were pretty easy to set up and worked very well. Our only complaint is that there seems to be some confusion as to the warranty period. According to your website the warranty is stated as 1 year in one place and 3 years in another. Although I would like to recommend you to others this issue is concerning. [****] to discuss

We have been looking at a portable AC unit for many months and finally decided on the Gasbye 14,000 BTU unit. We have central air, however our bedroom is on the upper level and doesn’t get as cool as we like for sleeping. This unit works great and we really like using the inverter mode while sleeping. It keeps the noise down and the room cool.

This portable AC is a life saver! We live in south Florida and I swear every summer gets hotter. Our AC cannot keep up and the temperature in the house ends up around 84 degrees. I bought this portable AC to see if it could at least help our house stay somewhat cooler. I went through every portable AC sold on amazon, walmart and sams club. This was the largest unit I could find and figure that the dual hosing would be helpful. We put it in our living room. Our house has a completely open concept with the living room, dining room and kitchen in one large space. We also have a sloped ceiling so the space is very large. We have had this product for about a month and this thing is a beast! I do have to turn it on its "turbo mode" but it keeps the temperature in the living room at 73 degrees when working with our regular central AC. It has a very strong flow of air that comes out of it. The company stands behind their product for 3 years, which in my eyes tells me that this is a durable product. We needed extra window fitting, because our window is very long, and the company responded very quickly and send the needed parts within 5 days. No brainer, get the AC!

Quick and easy to set up, clear instructions, sleek design, and surprisingly quiet.The control panel is great. It allows for a lot of features without being complicated. Switching from turbo mode to inverter mode for instance is simple and obvious, and each has its advantages: turbo for power, inverter for quietness and efficiency.The dual-hose design is the only way to go. Effectively cools without creating a low pressure zone that sucks in air from outside.The manual is clear and straightforward. It is easy to read and not loaded with boring text.I did a lot of research before purchasing this unit, and for portable air conditioners, this really seems to be the best one for your money. I would not buy any AC unit without both an inverter and a dual-hose design.

This is, so far, an excellent unit. With some major caveats.

I am, sadly, a bit of a portable A/C connoisseur, having dealt with many different brands of nominal 14,000 BTU portable A/Cs over the past 4 years. I can confidently say that, in the Inverter mode, this is the quietest I've come across, and it isn't even remotely close. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the unit is whisper-quiet with a near-perfectly consistent white noise pitch when in the inverter operation. I cannot over-emphasize how quiet it is while still producing a nice stream of cold air in this mode. It also produced nearly no excess water (much more on this later) in this mode in my environment, making drainage unnecessary.

The inverter mode, however, is not going to be nearly powerful enough for some people. That may not be a problem, though, because the "Turbo" regular mode has extraordinary cooling power. As compared with other units on the market... This Gasbye has significantly more real-world cooling power than the popular and well-regarded duel hose 14,000 BTU Whytner model; and maybe 3 or 4 fold (truly) the real-world cooling power of the 1 hose14,000 BTU Della model. The 14,000 BTU Humhold (also sold under multiple other brand names) seems to produce a similar force of similarly cold air. However, the 2024 version of that unit sold under the Domanki brand name had serious longevity issues. Additionally, that is a 1 hose unit, making the real room-cooling effectiveness of the Humhold slightly less than of this Gasbye unit due to the negative pressure a 1 hose model creates, pulling outside air in through walls, windows, door frames, and other crevices. This Gasbye unit also has FAR more cooling power than both a 12,000 BTU Amana unit and a 12,000 BTU Haier unit I have used over the past 4 years.

So, what are the caveats? As I said, the inverter mode will not be powerful enough for some applications. And the full-throttle "Turbo" mode which is so awesome at cooling also produces an immense amount of water by-product. During continuous running, without cycling off, in +/- 75% relative humidity outdoors, in a large room in a well-sealed apartment, this consistently produced more than 20oz/hour (0.6L/hour) of water. If you're planning on using this unit continuously at maximum, you will, most likely, want to rig up some form of continuous drainage. Of course, many people will be using this unit somewhere in between the two extremes; but you should be aware this produces more water than any other portable A/C I've recently encountered.

When in the full-blast "Turbo" mode, this unit is also no less noisy than the other units I've mentioned. Not more noisy, just not less.

Finally, I want to mention something about the hose design. The outside air intake hose does not have a screen. This won't be a problem for some people, but for some people not installing this behind a window screen you will need to create a screen of your own to prevent tiny insects from flying into the unit. This is an easy enough do-it-at-home fix. But be aware this issue exists.

Customer service is excellent and responsive. They reached out to ask how I liked the unit and, as promised, responded in less than 12 hours when I asked about the availability of a screen for the intake hose. The unit also comes with a 3 year, rather than 1 year, warranty, which is basically unheard of for a portable A/C.

Overall, my first few weeks suggest this is an excellent unit with some caveats. For most (but not necessarily all) use cases, this is probably worth the price premium over less expensive models; and preferable to similarly priced units, as well.

This Air conditioner is amazing. Runs efficiently and quiet, especially in inverter mode. It cools our 800 square foot condo nicely and the unit is build well and very stylish. Works much better than our last 14000 btu Whynter unit. Customer service is also great!

This is a good unit. Our HVAC failed in the middle of summer, and I'm waiting to purchase a new unit until the prices drop in the fall. Used this in our office and used a fan to circulate air into the bedrooms. It very competently cooled about 600 sf of our 1000 sf house. It's easy to set up, quite quiet for a local AC unit, and eliminated condensation through the exhaust duct very efficiently. The remote is somewhat clunky, but it works. You will need two people to set it up because it's somewhat heavy. Make sure to route the exhaust hose out the top of any vertical arrangement you use because it gets quite warm and you don't want it to heat up the other hose that provides cooling for the compressor. Also, be careful when you extend the hoses because the ends can come off quite easily and are a pain to put back on. I would definitely buy this again: make sure you contact them for the extended warranty, but do not be afraid to grab one of these- they work admirably well!

I ordered this unit as the spec CEER is the highest I could find for a portable, and the warranty (3-years with registration) is also the best I could find. That gives me confidence. The manual is quite good, with excellent photos, very unusual for anything from China. I only wish there were more detailed descriptions of how the unit works in the various modes, especially with respect to the temp setpoint. A display of power drawn would be really nice for conservation nerds like me. Support is excellent, they do get back via email within 12 hours as stated. The unit works, but I can't really test efficiency and I ordered after peak summer heat But I doubt there will be an issue with cooling power. Build quality seems high. I do find it to be loud, but the noise is minimized in inverter mode once (I assume) the setpoint is reached. The cooled air exit is fairly small, which makes for high velocity, hence...white noise. I only hear the fan, not the compressor. I can't compare to other units since this is the first portable I have owned, and I could not use a window unit for this one very heat prone room. The remote works well. All told, unless you demand internet connectivity, this seems to be a really good choice if you must have a portable. And the lack of internet connectivity or wifi means it isn't prone to IOT hacking. That's a plus in my book.

I do not wish upon anyone to have portable AC's. Window AC's are better, and hopefully my whole home unit will eventually end this mess. I, unfortunately, have had access to several portable ac's. As mentioned in my previous review of a Whynter, I just don't like portable units, but I'm stuck at the moment. Out of the several I've used, I can mention 3 only that I consider a decent PORTABLE ac. This latest Gasbye unit does smoke the Whynter unit in a couple of ways. It is SO quiet, and yet I feel air in a distance that I did not notice with Whynter. I mean this thing is seriously quiet. I thought my LG lp1491v thinQ was quiet, but this thing is even more so. The temp coming out of unit is about 4 degrees warmer than the LG single hose, but again, as I mentioned in the Whynter review, I need to have both types of units.

I am anxious to see the difference in the utility bill, as this Gasbye it quite a bit of difference in utility rating to Whynter, and my electric bill is absolutely crazy expensive. It certainly has been put through the ringer in its first week of use, with temps in mid 90's, so it's starting off with a bang.Again, it's SO quiet, and blows more forceful air. I'd say that regarding portable AC's, I probably couldn't ask for much more than this Gasbye dual hose, and the LG lp1491v thinQ single hose. It WILL just barely keep my nearly 400sq' bedroom space to my liking. Most of my home is spray foamed, and r21 between inner walls.

Gasbye AC has been in service for past 5 hours. My central AC experienced a mechanical breakdown that will require a full replacement. I chose this AC to carry my AC needs for rest of a hot summer.

Pros: Gasbye AC is operating well, and cooling probably more area than it was designed for, so I'm happy.
Con: Installing the supplied plastic window adapter in a double hung window required buying and cutting a 1 inch x 2 inch board for a surface to oppose the window sash with the window adapter between. The window adapter needed to be outside and level with the 1 inch thick interior window sill, which allowed the window adapter large holes clearanceto attach supplied hoses, I used the supplied thin adhesive weather stripping on the top and bottom of the 1"x2" board for a air/water seal. I used the supplied screws to secure the bottom of the window adapter to the 1" x 2" board. ( be careful , the adhesive weather stripping is very sticky and cannot be adjusted once on, as it will turn into a mess). This was the most difficult part of the AC install.

After several days of 85 degree weather, I'm impressed with this AC! Ideas I found useful for a better install:

- Next, solution to block rain from entering into intake and exhaust hoses as follows:
At home depot purchase a 6 quart Sterilite storage bin, 13 5/8 x 8 1/4 x 4 7/8, $2.00.
Cut the 13 5/8 inch in half so each half is about 7 inch. Cut a large arch/hole into the bottom portion of each half, dry fit and trim to fit outside of window adapter with the arch hole facing out. I used tin snips to cut plastic bin. Once you have a final fit , I used double sided tape to secure. I have high confidence in this solution. UPDATE: After a major thunderstorm with heavy rain against the window where Gasbye AC is installed, the above solution to keep rain out of the intake and exhaust hoses as I had hoped!

This thing is built like a tank! I am extremely happy with the purchase....Depending on your window/measurements you will need to cut the panels, but all of these floor units have panels that are designed the same way - unless your window is exactly the perfect size that the panel / panels you need to use have no divisible remainder then yes you'll need to do some cutting.. I used a Dremel. If you have even the slightest DIY ability (unlike the ogre who rated 1 star) it should be a no brainer but if you're a 90 year old granny or someone with two left feet get someone who knows how to cross the street to help you.Oh yeah and I had to install mine up in the air because the window sill in my apt is high off the ground, but again this is part of installing one of these units... unless you're installing a window unit any of these ground units will be slightly more involved. If you're completely incapable ask a 70 y/o granny to help you and you should be fine.

I’ve been using this portable AC for a few weeks now and I’m really happy with it. It was easy to set up—just a few minutes and it was ready to go. The dual-hose design makes a big difference compared to my old single-hose unit. My living room cools down quickly and stays that way.It’s also much quieter than I expected. I can watch TV or sleep without it being distracting. I haven’t had to empty any water yet, even with the recent humid weather, which is a nice surprise.The remote is simple to use, even in the dark, and the window kit fit my window without any hassle. Overall, it just works well and does what I need without any fuss.
