Do I have to buy Gasbye bags, or can I use ones I already have?
No, you don't. Our VS5166 vacuum sealer is compatible with any textured/embossed vacuum sealer bags from other brands. However, we recommend using name-brand or Gasbye bags, as some low-cost bags are very thin and may be punctured by frozen foods, which can lead to air leaks.
Can this vacuum sealer work with reusable zipper bags?
We don’t recommend using reusable zipper bags.
First, from a food safety standpoint, reusable bags that previously held food can develop residue in the seams and zipper area, which is difficult to fully clean and may build up over time.
Second, they’re usually less cost-effective. A typical pack of 30 reusable zipper bags costs $30+ (about $1 per bag), while Gasbye pre-cut vacuum sealer bags are $22 for 200 bags—around $0.11 per bag.
For best sealing performance, hygiene, and value, we recommend using standard vacuum sealer bags designed for heat sealing.
I often need to vacuum-seal marinated steak, but I don’t want to draw out the juices. Does the VS5166 have a compatible marinate food container?
Yes! Using a food container allows you to vacuum-seal marinated meats or saucy foods without removing the liquid, keeping the marinade on the food. We’ve designed a dedicated container specifically for the VS5166 (not included in the package; Click here to purchase). Most vacuum sealers on the market do not support containers like this.
Why does suction power actually matter—and is 95 kPa enough?
Yes. The VS5166 reaches 95 kPa—near the maximum achievable by consumer vacuum sealers, and strong enough to fully evacuate air from thick cuts of meat and dense foods that weaker machines often struggle with. It's powered by a double-headed pump with twice the diameter of a standard pump.
I've seen the best-selling vacuum sealers. What makes the VS5166 worth it?
The VS5166 is actually made in the same factory as the best-selling model—but it's a 2026 upgraded version built around the complaints people had with that machine.
The drip tray is now removable—cleanup after sealing wet foods takes seconds, not minutes. The power cord is longer (5.2 ft vs. 3.9 ft), so you're not fighting to reach the outlet. Handles are upgraded from plastic to metal. The package includes 2 foam gasket replacements.

What happens if something breaks after a year?
We sell replacement parts separately—foam gaskets, removable drip trays, and built-in cutters, most under $7. A worn gasket shouldn't mean buying a whole new machine. Brands that offer separate replacement parts are quite rare; most only sell the full unit and offer limited post-sale support.

I can't speak to longevity yet, but so far after my initial use, I LOVE this product! I've never used a vacuum sealer, but after researching which to get, I landed on this one with hopes of longevity and quality in the budget-friendly machine range. It was super easy to set up, cut the bags, and line everything up. The instructions were easy to understand, and I was able to do a couple of seal cycles without any issues (I only needed to do a couple of things for this first use). I also love that the drip tray is removable. The seal looked sturdy too! I'm looking forward to continuing to use this machine!
I have been using the Gasbye Vacuum sealer for about three weeks and it’s does a great job. I love the strong vacuuming capabilities, the double seal option as well as the manual vacuum/seal options. I also chose the Gasbye for the five year warranty and many positive reviews.

Works great & I like the double seal option
i’ve tried about three different vacuum seals. The main reason I got this one is the double seal and also the suction is nothing like anything else I’ve had owned.Also, the shutting mechanism is excellent. Don’t buy one without a double seal. You’ll regret it.

This machine is AWESOME! The last food sealer I had was back in the 80s . So choosing one was hard. This one is perfect to freeze my garden veggies and when I split my meat purchases into smaller portions. In addition, I emailed customer service on a Sat. Did not expect a response on a Sunday. They registered my machine, then they mailed me a free box of bags. Great customer service and product.
This review is both on the vacuum sealer and company. I have had this unit for about 10 days now and it works extremely well. The sealer is well built and I can not figure any feature it does not have. When using it, it feels solid in all aspects and of course does a great job. So far every feature that the unit has, I have used with pleasure gaining more confidence.The product is one thing , BUT the company that makes and backs it up I believe is even more important. On the front label it states to email the company and they will extend the warranty to 5 years. They did just that with no problems at all. They did as they said they would. My unit was short (1) roll of bag material and after I notified them, they gave me a link to Amazon to purchase (2) rolls at there expense. All I have asked them, they did it promptly without any fuss at all. I do believe now and in the future they will be there for their customers.Thank You GasbyeRm

I have been madly vacuum-sealing then deep freezing all sorts of foods in preparation for the birth of our third in a couple weeks. I am thoroughly impressed with the quality and ease of use of this vacuum sealer! It’s sturdy, the manual is very easy to read and includes helpful photos, and it works perfectly for everything I’ve prepared so far: make-ahead-meals, meats, veggies, fruit, marinated meats, and even baked goods. The suction power is excellent, and the seals are strong. You can use this with vacuum canisters as well. GasBye also offers a 5-year extended warranty which is great and tells me it’s very durable if they’re willing to honor a warranty longer than their competitors.
First use was packing 50 lbs of venison. Everything worked as I would have wished. I don't know that I would have asked for anything more.

I recently purchased the Gasbye vacuum sealer and have been very pleased with it. It has strong suction, seals quickly, and is very easy to use. I especially like the built-in bag cutter and roll storage, which makes preparing bags much more convenient.
The different settings for dry and moist foods are very useful, and the double-seal feature gives me confidence that the bags will stay sealed. The unit also feels well made and is straightforward to operate without a lot of unnecessary buttons or complicated features.
So far, I'm very happy with my purchase and feel that the Gasbye offers excellent performance and features for the price. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good home vacuum sealer.

What is the biggest bag it can seal?
Hi there! Our vacuum sealer has heating strips about 12 inches wide, so we recommend using bags up to 11 inches wide to ensure a proper seal.
