DryPrime-35-BP

Below are some common questions about DryPrime-35-BP

What’s the difference between a dehumidifier with a pump and one without a pump?

A non-pump dehumidifier drains water by gravity—you attach a hose to the drain outlet, and the water flows downward naturally. Because there’s no pump to push the water, there are two limitations: (1) The hose must run downward; (2) The hose can’t be too long—typically no more than 5 feet. In contrast, a dehumidifier with a built-in pump can push water upward and over longer distances—up to 16 feet. This gives you more flexibility in where and how you drain the water.

What should I consider when choosing a dehumidifier with a pump?

If you read through customer comments of pump-equipped dehumidifiers, you’ll often see complaints about the pump failing after 1–2 years. That’s because, in most models, the pump is built inside the unit and can’t be cleaned by the user. Since the air contains dust, the condensation water inside a dehumidifier is not clean. Over time, dirt builds up in the pump and eventually clogs it—especially if it can’t be cleaned.

The Gasbye DryPrime-35-BP model solves this problem. Its pump is located inside the water tank, so you can easily access and clean it at any time, greatly extending the pump’s life. And if the pump ever does fail, you can replace just the pump instead of buying a whole new unit.

If the pump fails, where can I buy a replacement, and how much does it cost?

We're currently optimizing the pump replacement packaging to reduce shipping costs. The replacement pump will be sold directly on Amazon for around $40.

Most dehumidifiers with a built-in pump on the market cost between $280 and $350. Since their pumps can’t be cleaned or replaced, there’s a high chance they’ll clog and fail after 1–2 years—often right after the 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐲 expires—forcing you to buy a whole new unit. With the Gasbye DryPrime-35-BP, you don’t have to take that risk. Its pump can be easily cleaned or replaced, saving you potentially hundreds of dollars.

DryPrime-50

Below are some common questions about DryPrime-50

How can I compare the true dehumidifying capacity of different dehumidifiers?

Check the weight! Why? A dehumidifier's performance largely depends on the amount of 𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 inside. More 𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 means better dehumidifying power and energy efficiency. So, how can a lightweight unit claim such high capacity? The trick is that dehumidifying capacity varies with temperature and humidity—the higher these are, the more effective the unit appears. For example, the Gasbye DryPrime-50 model, weighing 43 pounds, pulls up to 115 pints/day at 86°F, 80% RH, 73 pints/day at 80°F, 60% RH, and 50 pints/day at 65°F, 60% RH. Some dehumidifiers claim 52 pints/day at 86°F, 80% RH but weigh just 34.6 pounds. Others even claim 100 pints/day at an extreme 95°F, 90% RH, yet weigh only 30.9 pounds. You'll find that these lightweight models highlight their performance in high-temperature, high-humidity conditions to show inflated numbers. If you compare the dehumidifying capacity under the same temperature and humidity conditions, I’m confident you’ll see that Gasbye dehumidifiers offer great value for the price. We don’t mislead customers by labeling a mini-sized unit as a 100 pint/day dehumidifier (measured at 95°F, 90% RH) and then charging you over $200 for it.

Does the warm air from a dehumidifier increase AC costs in summer? Why do some dehumidifiers emit more warm air than others?

Dehumidifiers work similarly to air conditioners, which also emit warm air during operation. Although this warm air slightly increases the AC's cooling energy use, it reduces the AC's dehumidification burden. By letting your air conditioner (2000-3000 watts) focus on cooling rather than dehumidifying, running a dehumidifier (500 watts) will typically lower your overall energy bill. Stronger dehumidifiers emit more warm air, while weaker ones emit less. We’ve observed that some consumers are pleased when their new dehumidifier emits less warm air than their old one. However, this often simply means that the new unit has a lower dehumidifying capacity. As mentioned above, the amount of warm air emitted by the dehumidifier does not increase your electricity bill. In fact, it can actually reduce it (counterintuitive but true—you can search for more information if interested.)

What's the difference between 300~500-watt compressor dehumidifiers and 60~100-watt semiconductor-based dehumidifiers? Which is more energy-efficient?

In terms of cooling technology, compressor dehumidifiers are 5-6 times more efficient than semiconductor-based ones. Although a semiconductor-based dehumidifier consumes only 60-100 watts and seems more energy-efficient, you would need a bunch of them to effectively dehumidify a space larger than 300 sq ft. In contrast, a single 300~500-watt compressor dehumidifier can quickly reduce the humidity in a large room.

What environments are compressor-based dehumidifiers suitable for?

The Gasbye DryPrime-50 is a compressor-based dehumidifier with an internal compressor that causes vibrations and noise. It operates at around 45dB and is relatively quiet, making it ideal for medium to large spaces like basements, garages, and spacious living rooms. In these areas, it won’t disturb you while working or watching TV. However, it’s not recommended for use in small spaces like bedrooms.

Is ENERGY STAR the same as ENERGY STAR Most Efficient? Are ENERGY STAR Most Efficient 2023 and ENERGY STAR Most Efficient 2024 the same?

The US EPA has set two certification standards for dehumidifier energy efficiency. The ENERGY STAR certification indicates good energy efficiency, while the ENERGY STAR Most Efficient certification recognizes the top-performing products in energy efficiency. In 2024, the US EPA raised the most efficiency standards. Gasbye is the fastest brand to meet this new standard. This is because big brands often have large inventories of older models that need to be sold before introducing new standards, which can take 3-4 years.

CoolPrime-10000

Below are some common questions about CoolPrime-10000

What is the difference between dual-hose and single-hose portable air conditioners?

Single-hose units are a cost-cutting design and work more like a fan that blows cool air, only cooling the area directly in front of the unit. They create negative pressure indoors, drawing hot outdoor air in through door cracks and window gaps, making it feel like you're cooling with an open door or window. Dual-hose systems, with two separate air circulation pathways, are true air conditioners that can cool the entire room efficiently and are more energy-efficient.

What does "inverter" mean, and what are the advantages compared to non-inverter units?

Non-inverter units can only adjust fan speed, which changes fan noise but not the constant buzz of the compressor. At low fan speeds, the fan noise decreases, but the compressor noise becomes more noticeable and annoying. Inverter ACs let you lower both fan speed and compressor frequency, reducing both types of noise for a more comfortable experience. Another advantage of inverter ACs is that they are more energy-efficient. Your room doesn’t need the same cooling power all the time. During the day, when it’s hotter, you need stronger cooling, which uses more energy. But at night, when it’s cooler, less power is needed to stay comfortable. Inverter ACs let you manually adjust cooling power to match the room’s needs — use Turbo mode for fast cooling during the day, and Inverter mode at night to save energy. Fixed-speed ACs always run at full power, even when it’s not necessary, wasting electricity, especially at night.

Does the Gasbye dual-hose inverter portable air conditioner require drainage in high humidity?

In most cases, portable ACs do not require manual drainage. But if the humidity is over 85% RH and the room isn’t sealed, moisture from outside can 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿, which may exceed the unit’s auto-evaporation capacity and require manual drainage. In such cases, unlike many portable ACs with drainage outlets at the bottom, our unit includes an additional drainage outlet positioned higher on the back, making the process much easier.

What do the 14,000 BTU (ASHRAE 128) and 10,500 BTU (SACC) ratings mean for the Gasbye Dual Hose Portable AC?

The current temperature influences the cooling capacity of an air conditioner; the higher the temperature, the greater the challenge for the unit.

ASHRAE 128 measures cooling capacity at 80°F, while SACC uses higher temperatures and stricter conditions, making it a more realistic measure of performance. Therefore, the SACC rating is usually lower but provides a more accurate assessment of the unit’s cooling efficiency in real-world conditions. Even for units rated at 14,000 BTU under ASHRAE 128, their SACC ratings can vary significantly. Since we don’t inflate the BTU rating of our unit, its size may be larger compared to some other "mini" models that falsely advertise 14,000 BTU. Its dimensions are 15.5" D x 17.7" W x 29.3" H.

How long are the window brackets included with the Gasbye portable AC? What if my window is longer?

The portable AC package includes two 20-inch window brackets and one 10-inch window bracket. If your window is larger, don’t worry. After receiving your portable AC, you can request additional window brackets for 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘.
